STANDING RULES

 

 

ARTICLE I – Name

 

The name of the organization shall be AUXOP Association, 9th Coast Guard District Auxiliary.

 

ARTICLE II – Purpose

 

The purpose of the AUXOP Association is and will henceforth be;

1.       To advise the Ninth Central Region in areas of O.S.C. training.

2.       To promote O.S.C. training within 9CR.

3.       To encourage auxiliarists to obtain AUXOP status.

4.       To exchange information pertaining to O.S.C. examinations:

a.       Exchange information on tests, especially poor or misleading questions; ambiguous answers, etc.

b.       Establish (with DSO-MT & STAFF) uniform methods and procedures for administering O.S.C. practical demonstrations.

5.       To contact National (as a Association via DSO-MT) to encourage revisions of O.S.C

 tests where needed

6.       To provide a forum for AUXOP’s to meet and discuss training

7.       To provide an environment for AUXOP’s to meet in a social setting at conferences, meetings and seminars.

Actions emanating from Article II are in no way to be construed as pre-empting administrative authority of District, Division, or Flotilla Officers and Staff. At no time will the Association, its members or its policies conflict with the U.S.C.G. Auxiliary or 9th Coast Guard District Auxiliary.

 

 

ARTICLE III – Membership

 

Eligibility for membership in the AUXOP Association, will be confined to those Auxiliarists who have been designated as AUXOP members. Any AUXOP member residing in the 9th Coast Guard District may become a member of this Association upon compliance with the rules of the organization and payment of annual dues as set forth in Article V.

 

 

ARTICLE IV – Honorary Membership

 

At the discretion of the 9th Coast Guard District Auxiliary AUXOP Association board, for good and sufficient reasons, honorary membership in the 9th Coast Guard District Auxiliary AUXOP Association may be granted to:

a.       Auxiliarists who have achieved the AUXOP designation but who are not members of the Ninth District U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

b.       U.S. Coast Guard personnel.

Nomination of honorary members may be made by any member of the 9th District  AUXOP Association. Such honorary membership may only be granted by unanimous agreement of the 9th District  AUXOP Association Board which consists of the Association President, Vice-President, Secretary/Treasurer and Immediate Past President.

 

 

ARTICLE V – Dues

 

Dues, as determined by the membership, will be payable on or before 31 December of the current year (dues are due and collected in the year of election for DCO) and every 2 years there after. There will be an initiation fee of $5.00 for new members.

 

 

ARTICLE VI – Meetings

 

The Association shall hold two (2) business meetings per year in conjunction with the Central Region District Conferences. Special meetings may be convened to conduct urgent business. All meetings are to be conducted under Robert’s Rules of Order.

 

 

ARTICLE VII – Officers

 

Elected officers shall be President, Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer. Nominations will be from the floor, one (1) second required. Election will be by simple majority of members present and voting. (no write-ins). Voting, as with District, lowest candidate drops off if no majority. Officers will be elected at the October meeting and hold office for a term of two (2) years coinciding with the term of office of the District Commodore. The Immediate Past President of the AUXOP Association will be a non-voted officer being able to chair meetings in the absent of all other officers .

 

 

ARTICLE VIII – Finances

 

 

Income:

a.       Dues and Initiation fees

b.       Fund raising activities are authorized (50/50 drawings, etc.)

 

Expenditures:

a.       Deferring costs of the association.

b.       A checking account will be established.

c.       All bills will be approved by the President or as a result of motions at the semi-annual meetings.

d.       One signature will be required on checks (Sec./Treas.).

e.       Bank statements will be sent to Sec./Treas.

f.         Audits will be made on an as needed basis or when a new Sec./Treas is elected.**

 

 

 

ARTICLE IX – Miscellaneous

 

The Vice Commodore, if not an AUXOP member, sits as a non-voting member of the Association to provide guidance, etc. (Does not pay dues if not an AUXOP).
